Choose your tests
Decide which birds you’d like to test and what you want to learn about each one.

Collect, pack & label your sample
The sample should preferably be collected on a small cutout section of a coffee filter. Be sure not to touch the sample with any part of your body to prevent contamination. Place the sample into a small plastic bag. Each individual sample needs to be labeled with a name, phrase, or number so that you can recognize the results for that specific bird. The lab will use this label as the test name on the results sent out.

Before you
send a sample.
Can I choose more than one test for a bird?
Yes. You can select gender, blue egg genetics and lavender genetics tests for the same bird. Each selected test is charged per sample. All three tests total $27 before applicable tax.
How should I prepare and mail my samples?
The sample should preferably be collected on a small cutout section of a coffee filter. Be sure not to touch the sample with any part of your body to prevent contamination. Place the sample into a small plastic bag. Each individual sample needs to be labeled with a name, phrase, or number so that you can recognize the results for that specific bird. The lab will use this label as the test name on the results sent out.
How long does testing take?
Estimated turnaround is 24–48 hours. Contact the lab about the timing of a particular submission.
What if I need a refund or retest?
Refunds and retests are reviewed at the business’s discretion, subject to applicable law. Email the lab with your order number and a description of the concern. Read the refund and retest policy.
Do you share results with other labs or use them for marketing?
We do not share samples or results with outside laboratories or use customer information or laboratory results for marketing. Our app’s draft privacy notice explains the planned service-provider processing.
